The Greentrax record label out of Scotland is one of the most prolific producers of CDs by Celtic performers. Their recent 2-CD collection sampling their recordings of the past 20 years gives us plenty of material for this week's program.

This week we highlight one of the smallest instruments used in both vocal and instrumental music by Celtic artists, among many others, the harmonica. We will look particularly at how harmonica players can perform the intricate ornaments more commonly heard on other instruments playing the dance tunes of Scotland and Ireland.

New England and Appalachian contradance and square dance music has its roots in the music of Ireland, Scotland, and England. We explore these dance traditions in this week's program, featuring particularly music by the VanNorstrand brothers and their Great Bear Trio from upstate New York.
