Robert Burns was born on January 25, 1759, and we celebrate his 248th birthday this week with a program full of his songs as recorded by some of Scotland's finest singers.
  
07-04 1/25/07 Reel to Reel IV
This is the fourth in an occasional series of programs consisting entirely of reels, those dance tunes in 4/4 time that seem to be the favorites in most music sessions. The rules of the game in Reel to Reel are that the first tune in a medley has to be the same as the last tune of the previous medley, which challenges your host to mix and match to create a relay of medleys of reels. Be prepared to dance!

We sample new releases from 2007 along with recent releases from the past couple of years in this week's program.

All the songs and tunes this week have French connections, whether from Paris or Brittany or Quebec, and whether played by natives or by Celtic and American musicians.

The Southern Illinois Irish Festival, held ever spring the last weekend of April in Carbondale, celebrated its 10th year in 2006 with performances by Teada, The Kells, Brendan Nolan, Faileas, and St. Louis Irish Arts. This week we revisit some of the highlights of last year's performances, recorded exclusively for Celtic Connections.

We celebrate the season of St. Patrick's Day with an all-Irish program of great musicians of the past and present.

America's greatest Irish fiddler and composer, Liz Carroll of Chicago, is honored in this week's program with highlights from her many recordings with the likes of John Doyle, Trian, Jimmy Keane, and many other top musicians.
  
07-12 3/22/07 Name That Band
If you're a regular fan of Celtic music, you can put your knowledge to the test this week when we play "Name That Band!" Your host and game-master Bryan Kelso Crow will play a vocal or instrumental track from some of the bands commonly heard on Celtic Connections, and you will have until the music ends to impress those around you by your ability to "Name That Band!"
