Tune in this week for a sample of songs and tunes from the best new releases that have come our way from Celtic musicians.

09-15 4/9/09 The Bryans
In honor of your host's first name, which was his father's middle name and his grandmother's last name, we feature musicians named Bryan or Brian, or whose last name is O'Brian (in various spellings), as well as songs with characters with that name. Tune in to see who shows up for the party!

09-16 4/16/09 Sister Acts
Bands featuring two or more sisters are the focus of this week's program, with tracks from the 4-sister Scottish band Give Way, and the 4-sister Irish band Screaming Orphans, among others.

09-17 4/23/09 Green Fields of America
The new CD by the long-established American east-coast assemblage of Irish musicians called Green Fields of America is featured this week, with some forays into solo albums by the current members of the group, including Mick Moloney, John Doyle, Billy McComiskey, Athena Tergis, and Robbie O'Connell.

09-18 4/30/09 New Releases
Tracks from new and recent CDs from Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada, and the U.S. are featured in this week's program.

09-19 5/7/09 Best of 1979 (30 Years Later)
The year 1979 saw a bumper crop of important new releases in the Irish and Scottish music world, and this week's program takes us back 30 years to sample the state of the art at the time.

09-20 5/14/09 Whistlers Whistling
Our instrument of note this week is the tin whistle, also known as the pennywhistle, or just the whistle. Some of the best whistle players on both sides of the Atlantic are featured playing dance tunes in solo, duo, and ensemble settings, along with slow airs on the low whistle.

09-21 5/21/09 A Songwriter Showcase
Contemporary songwriters from Ireland, Scotland, and England, as well as North American songwriters with Celtic themes, are featured this week, singing their own songs or handing them over to other singers to perform.

09-22 5/28/09 Old Favorites
Songs and tunes from not-so-new albums will sound like new when we air them out this week!

09-23 6/4/09 New Releases
What has been showing up in the Celtic Connections mailbox lately? Tune in this week to hear some of the best tracks from new and recent releases.

09-24 6/11/09 Best of Beoga
With three CDs in their discography, this young band from Co. Antrim in the North of Ireland has risen to the top of the charts for many a fan of Irish music. We will feature tracks from all three CDs by Beoga on this week's program, highlighting the exciting duo accordions of Sean Og Graham and Damian McKee, and the singing of Niamh Donne.

09-25 6/18/09 Summer Festival Preview
The summer Celtic music festivals will soon be starting, and we will preview some of the artists who are touring this summer as well as some of the festivals in Ireland and the U.S.

09-26 6/25/09 Music of the American Civil War Era
Last summer's Civil War program garnered a lot of good feedback from listeners, and there is plenty more music where that program came from, so this week we will feature songs and tunes from both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line, as well as early 19th-century music by composers like Stephen Foster that was popular during the war years. The role of Irish immigrants in both the Northern and Southern armies will continue to be explored.
